The carbon laser peel is a safe, comfortable and effective way of reducing skin irregularities and signs of ageing, and giving skin a healthier, younger-looking appearance. It is usually used in combination with other cosmetic procedures to achieve the best results.
If excessive sun exposure, acne or ageing has left your skin with wrinkles, lines, blemishes, scars, or blotches, the carbon laser peel is an excellent way for you to repair the damage as well as improve your skin’s appearance.
This laser involves the use of concentrated, pulsing beams of light and carbon spectra lotion to rejuvenate the skin and improve its condition.
The laser beam is absorbed by the carbon particles in the lotion, which then penetrate the pores. This thermal effect heats up and stimulates the cells in the underlying skin layer to generate collagen, a component that is vital to the regeneration of new skin. It also stimulates collagen production, causing the inner walls of the pores to shrink.
Laser resurfacing is used to repair skin damage and treat age-related irregularities, such as acne, scars, large pores, blemishes, discolouration, pigmentation, wrinkles, stretch marks, uneven skin tone and poor skin texture, and to restore and revitalise the appearance of skin.
During treatment consultation, provide our doctor with any pertinent information on your medical history, pre-existing medical and health conditions, drug allergies, and medication and/or supplements you are currently taking.
Our doctor will discuss the options available to you, and design a personalised course of treatment for optimal results.
Generally, the procedure takes only about 30 minutes. a carbon spectra lotion is first applied to your face. this is followed by focused and controlled bursts of a laser beam on the areas to be treated.
In the next stage of the treatment, the dual-pulsed q-switched nd:yag laser is used to remove the carbon spectra lotion. In doing so, it removes a thin layer of the skin as well. this superficial peeling effect removes excessive sebum, exfoliates the upper layer of skin and unplugs pores (thus reducing their size).
A slow delivery of the same laser system in the final stage ensures that all remnants of debris, oil, dead skin cells and carbon particles (from the lotion) are removed.
The effects are immediate; you will see improvement immediately after the first session. Cystic or nodular acne will be reduced, and acne growth will be thwarted with further treatments.
You will also notice a reduction in pore size and greasiness, elimination or lightening of yellowish or brownish skin discolourations, acne or tattoo pigmentation (depending on the condition you are being treated for). In addition, skin tone and texture will be improved, and your complexion will look clearer, brighter and refreshed.
Regular treatment promotes regeneration of collagen to improve elasticity of the skin. Generally, 3 sessions at intervals of 2 to 3 weeks, are required for optimal results. Subsequent treatments every 2 to 3 months is recommended to maintain the results.
There may be minor irritation and redness, which typically lasts only a few hours. There is no downtime involved, so you can resume your normal daily activities immediately after treatment.
You are encouraged to avoid direct exposure to sunlight immediately after treatment, and to wear sunscreen when going outdoors.
