This non-invasive gentle laser uses concentrated pulsing laser beams to rejuvenate the skin and stimulate deep layers of collagen growth for fairer and more evenly textured skin. This treatment tackles common skin conditions such as enlarged pores, blemishes, discolouration, mild pigmentation, uneven skin tone and poor skin texture. Suitable for sensitive skin.
Many people have some form of pigmented lesions. This treatment will benefit you if you are distressed by the extent and prominence of your pigmented lesions.
The laser works on the principle of selective photothermolysis, and its combination of high peak power and short pulse width delivers efficient destruction of the target melanin (skin pigments) with minimal collateral thermal damage.
The laser is carefully applied to the pigment lesions where its energy is absorbed by the target chromophores (pigment cells) and converted to heat. the heat breaks up and ablates (destroy) the pigment, thus removing or lightening the lesion. The surrounding non-pigmented areas of the skin are left intact while the ablated pigment particles are naturally absorbed and eliminated by the immune system.
Different types of pigment lesions exist at different depths in the skin. Pigment lesions may manifest as a result of factors like sun damage, genetics, the ageing process or side effects of medical procedures, and vary in size, shape and prevalence in a given area.
During consultation, provide your doctor with any pertinent information on your medical history, pre-existing medical and health conditions, and medication and/or supplements you are currently taking.
Our doctors will discuss the options available to you, and design a personalised course of treatment for optimal results.
Patients typically describe the laser effect like the snapping of rubber bands across their face during the procedure. a topical anaesthetic may be applied prior to treatment to minimise any discomfort.
Results depend on the extent and characteristics of the pigment lesions. For example, freckles typically may require only 1 to 2 sessions. Patients see an immediate darkening of the treated freckles, which will usually flake off in 3 to 5 days’ time.
In many cases, more sessions are required to maximise results. A course of treatment combined with other forms of treatment, such as chemical peels and topical applications, may be recommended to achieve optimal results.
Treatment of darker skin is more challenging due to the higher concentration of melanin in the skin.
There is minimal to no downtime involved. Side effects are uncommon and are generally minimal and short-term, if any.
